HISTORY WITH A TASTE
Helene’s Pear – Our Homemade Chocolate-Pear Liqueur
Herman Gruson and his wife Helene lived in a villa on the grounds of what is now the Ferienpark Brockenblick. Helene and Herman shared a great passion for collecting exotic plants and trees. Even today, visitors following the Grusonweg towards the Bode can still admire these unusual trees, which are not native to the Harz region. Among her many plants, Helene also had pear trees, whose fruit was used to distil her chocolate-pear liqueur. At “Helenenruh” (HWN 21), a peaceful resting place created especially for her by Hermann, Helene would sit and enjoy the view of the Brocken together with her beloved liqueur.
We have now finally brought Helene’s Pear back to life using this traditional recipe.
